Tutorial: Greenhouse Construction Step-By-Step
EXPLANATION:
Eco Greenhouses: Pit Type/EGH - This is a pit-type greenhouse and is considered to be in the Eco greenhouse family, but is partially embedded into the earth, similar to the Finch style or the Walipini style, and in the ground, surrounded by earth.
Although many people believe pit-type greenhouses are more energy efficient, the pit-type designs are actually less efficient than our Ground Level Eco Greenhouses.
Common EGH issues: random flooding, even in normally well-drained soil, possible land slides, and lack of complete sunlight inside the greenhouse due to the greenhouse being partially embedded into the ground. We have tested all models for many years and the new "Ground Level" greenhouses offer the best efficiency, performance, safety, and easiest maintenance overall.
Eco Greenhouses: Ground Level Type- The newly designed ground level Eco Greenhouses are the most efficient and easiest to construct. They eliminate random flooding issues, and allow full, normal sunlight into all areas of the greenhouse. These are the most efficient, easiest to construct, and least expensive Eco greenhouse. Very compatible with all crops, including trees, and aqua culture.
Grow Rooms - These are primarily used for the controlled climate growing of micro-greens, mushrooms, seedlings, some aquaculture, vertical farming, and medical cannabis crops.
These are a completely sealed Eco greenhouse with exceptional strength and thermal efficiency, for both summer and winter. The grow room offers, a controlled environment, optimum energy efficiency, climate control, and utilizes LED lighting as the variable, cost-effective UV source.
Thermal Batteries - The Thermal Batteries (TB), also known as Earth Batteries, are Geo-air, Geo-liquid, or technically, Geo-Solar-air batteries. The unique Green Quest Eco/Zero Greenhouse designs and technology are efficient in both the summer and winter, specifically for use with Eco Greenhouses, and Green Rooms. The 4' depth combines thermal mass, and geo-air tubes in one-layer. The 8' depths can combine either thermal mass and geo-air in both layers, or just one. The 10' deep Thermal battery is generally for growing fruit trees in a greenhouse.
There are two types of TB headers to hold the geo-tubes, one uses Cement Block (CB) in the header air system, and the other uses a PVC (PV) grid header to support the geo-tubes in the header. Overall, we prefer the easy, fast construction of the PV type Thermal Batteries (TB).
Integrated Greenhouses - These are various 'greenhouse kit' integrations. This means using a greenhouse kit from any greenhouse manufacturer, then fit it using the 10 Eco Greenhouse principles, and add a Thermal Battery or Geo-field tubes for enhanced year-around performance.
We have chosen some standard designs from certain greenhouse manufacturers who use steel frames in their conventional greenhouses. By modifying these "kit' greenhouse designs, we have been able to properly 'integrate' our efficient Thermal Battery to create Eco greenhouse designs, and moreover, some extremely efficient Eco/Zero Greenhouse designs.
This gives our members, customers, and the greenhouse manufacturers more options for energy-efficient year-around growing.
